Student Loans
Applebaum
Student loans, debts, and their effects on the economy are the main problem
Congress not doing anything is the secondary problem as well as college tuition
Applebaum's proposal is to forgive student debt after a reasonable payment period
His reasoning is that tuition rates are sky rocketing and society is quickly evolving into a "borrow to work" society
The evidence Applebaum gives is stating what the SLF Act entails and states that evidence should be a right, not a commodity reserved for the wealthy.
Who qualifies for the SLF Act? What if the debt is larger than what the maximum forgiveness is? Where does the debt go?

Post-workshop
The peer's feedback was excellent. She brushed over what I was worrying about and brought up areas on which I should improve on.
I have a clear understanding on what areas need revision and which areas to develop.
My approach to revising my paper will be to take my time with it. The more time I take, the less likely that the paper will seem repetitive and I will be able to flesh it out more.

Pre-workshop qustions
I am not very confident on this draft. Everything was rushed and I wrote what I felt to be the bare minimum.
I addressed most of the objectives on the assignment. However, I vaguely went over these issues and did not go into depth on any of them.
What really needs working on is my detail on the paper. The draft is basically a skeleton paper, having all of the requirements at the bare minimum.
I anticipate my peer to tell me to go more in depth for this paper as well as clarify a few points. As I stated earlier, this paper felt rushed and the reader will most likely be able to pick that up.

Logical fallacies
http://local.ads.nwsource.com/ads/_l/lesschwab/1014/splash_page/WinterDriving_harsh.html
There are several logical fallacies within this article. The false cause and the slippery slope are the two most prominent fallacies that are seen. Others include: special pleading, generalization, burden of proof, black or white, and a few red herrings
The video watched in class also contained logical fallacies. One of the big ones that were seen were generalization and loaded question. Others include: ad hominum, red herrings, burden of proof, middle ground, and anecdotal.

Different views on nhl expansion
There are many who are for an NHL expansion team in Settle, WA. However, that does not necessarily mean that the city will get one. For instance, what with all the talks of expansion, the NHL's official statement is that there are no plans for expansion in the immediate future. Another argument is that Seattle already has professional sports leagues. The biggest kick in the face for Seattle to be considered for an NHL team is that they would be required to build a new arena but a local law states that any new arena built in Seattle must be for a basketball team.
But those for the expansion already have arguments against these setbacks. Just because there are already established professional sports teams in Seattle does not necessarily mean that a team will not succeed. Just look at how many professional sports teams are in New York. Just because the NHL has no immediate plans for expansion does not mean that they are not open to talking about the possibility of one. And the final reason would be for Seattle to obtain an NBA expansion team before they are eligible for an NHL one.

Fracking
For Don Carns Jr, a resident of a small town in Pennsylvania, fracking is a big deal for him. As someone who has lived near a fracking site, he is trying to persuade people against Marcellus Shale and other fracking companies from operating in local areas. He does this by citing references about the dangers of fracking and how it effects the environment in negative ways such as contaminating ground water, destroying roads, and causing earthquakes.
Scott Cline wrote an article in response to Carns' about the benefits of fracking. His main focus is discrediting Carns by contradicting his article, although he has little to no support for his letter, basing it off of his word is better than Carns. Based on the letter, it sounds like he is employed by a fracking company

Video message
The message of the video is to show us where our food comes from and how the animals that are used for that food are treated. The purpose is to motivate people into choosing food options that have nothing to do with animals. The intended audience of the film is people who currently buy and eat food that comes from animals that are put through horrendous conditions, i.e. every consumer in America. The tone and seemingly subliminal message the video gives off is that if we do not choose healthier food options, we will end up extremely obese and it will be too late.

Civil Service
I believe that we should be required to perform some kind of civil service to our country for at least two years. Performing civil service can range from enlisting in the army to being a park ranger. Basically, every high school graduate should be employed by the government for at least two years before they go to college. This gives them an opportunity to build a resume as well as establish a source of income. People can opt out of civil service but will be ineligible for certain luxuries, such as voting. The movie Starship Troopers is an excellent example of this.

Final paper notes
Topic: I am still unsure about what to write about for my analytical paper. I am leaning towards a science related topic at the moment. More specifically, life on other planets or the ability to colonize exo-planets. Or something hockey related. Probably that. Yeah. The expansion of the NHL seems like a good topic.
Internet source: http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-expansion-roundtable-quebec-city/
in this source, five different hockey journalists give their opinions on whether or not the city should get an NHL expansion and they discuss the finer points such as fan bases, name recognition, and even the conference the team would join.
Research questions: Will the expansion increase the amount of games in the season? How many teams are to be added? Will these teams bring enough revenue to the cities that they are in and to the NHL?

Improvement: The Sequal
After peer review, I received new insight on my paper. Most of it was what I already knew. What piqued my interest was how the reviewer said that I had to many commas. I have always been encouraged to use commas when I think they should belong. Mainly, because there are so many grammar laws about them that it is easy to forget one or five of them. But now my roommate wants me to hurry up so I have to summarize quick. The reviewer like the way I set up the narrative and how it progresses while I age.
Improvement
I really need to work on my paper. So far, I have spent roughly forty-five minutes actually typing while the rest has been procrastination. The area I need to improve on the most in continuity. And by that, I mean does this paragraph fit here after this one or should I move it to the end? For some insane reason, I am trying not to use the word "is" in the paper. I blame my eighth grade English teacher for this. Whenever we wrote a paper for her, she would take that time to rant about how her college English teacher would deduct a letter grade for every "is" he found in their papers. I guess I am trying to take this as some sort of personal challenge. I have no idea why. It infuriates me.

Out of Place
We all have felt out of place before. Whether we were with friends or strangers, at a sporting event we like or a musical, even just hanging out by ourselves. It is a strange feeling to be out of place. For example, I enrolled in a Scandinavian Studies class because it was four credits and it fit into my schedule. When I arrived on the first day, I immediately felt out of place. It was not that I was uninterested in the subject (because I was), it was that I felt no connection with any of the students. I consider myself to be an athletic person with a variety of interests, the main one being sports. More specifically, hockey. Unfortunately, I dropped that class after the first day and was unable to experience the other students who enrolled in the class. And I use the only reason I use the term "students" is because they were not the instructor. Half the class could have been my father. Needless to say, I felt out of place. So I fixed it by dropping the class and picking up another because that is what I do. When I have a problem or I feel out of place, I either fix it or fake it until I feel content.

Tehcnology
Technology is a wonderful thing in today's society because it has brought people together. We can now talk to people around the world as if they where standing not two feet from us. We can chat with whomever, whenever, and however we want. But, this is only on a broad scale. On a smaller scale, we have become more disconnected then we have in ages past. Too many people nowadays lack the social skills they need that help them in everyday situations from introducing yourself to realizing when you should leave. Since technology has become so rampant in our society, we chalk this awkward moments to people just being awkward, not realizing that they just lack the social skills that can only be gained by face to face interaction between strangers.

Decisions
There are plenty of tough decisions that I have already made and there will be plenty of more that I will have to make. The toughest decision I have ever made, and one that I still regret to this day, was going to college. At the end of high school, I could have done any of a short list of things for my future. The first and foremost was to go play junior hockey. Hockey is my life and my passion. I had the ability, but not the time nor the money. But it would have been terrific to lace up and step out onto the ice once more. The stakes were always high, but then again, I like it that way. Much easier to make a final decision. To go pursuit my dream or to pursuit a college life. In the end, I chose Mankato State. If I could do it differently, I would have. But the past is the past. Sometimes, I wonder where would I be if I had changed this one decision. But then I realize that I like were I am now. The friends I have today would have no knowledge of me if I had changed this decision. Hell, I am damn sure I would not be writing so many freaking essays for this class.
Character
Character defines what kind of person you are. It can be built through life lessons or by hanging out with friends. My character sometimes confuses me. I guess it is because I am an indecisive person, but I am not certain quite yet. I am loyal to my friends and ruthless to those I dislike. I seem to be able to get through troubling times easier than others, but I chalk that up to my sense of humor. I can joke about anything. ANYTHING. You give me a good joke about dead babies and I will give you three about necrophilia. But it seams hard to stay on the topic of character when my mind is jumping to more important topics than a free write for a writing intensive class, which is literally everything else I can think of.

I believe the main idea in the Howard Cutler Inner Contentment essay based on his interview with the Dalai Lama is that in inner contentment, there is happiness and that there are essentially two was to reach it. One way is to give in to your greed and obtain everything you want. The other is to appreciate what we have now.
I believe that the main idea of Judy Brady's I Want a Wife essay is not just that she wants a wife. I believe she is satirizing and criticizing the way society has forced us to view married women as a wife, a person who should always know what to do and cater to her husbands needs. She is saying that with all the things that a wife is "supposed to do," there is no time for the wife to do the things she wants to do.

Happiness
To me, happiness is hanging out with friends and enjoying the time you spend with them. The things you do and the events you plan with them. Laughing at the same jokes, playing the same sport against each other for bragging rights. Hell, the happiest moments in my life so far happened when I was with my best friends just roasting each other and just having a good time. But sometimes, I find happiness in simpler things. Such as reading a good book in a comfy armchair, cooking new things, or even just relaxing outside when the weather is gorgeous.
